Sound Design for
Visually Impaired Audiences

I was recently contacted by Dr. Mariana Lopez, a researcher based at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, who is currently undertaking a project focusing on the effectiveness of sonic art designed specifically for visually impaired audiences.

This will aim to analyse the potential of audio-only works to convey clear narratives without the need for visual elements. The evaluation stage will involve listening to an audio film and participating in one-to-one discussion with the researcher.

The data collected throughout the listening test will be analysed and the results disseminated through conference presentations, publications and public engagement events.

The sessions will take place at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge and travelling expenses will be reimbursed. Each participant will receive a £20 Marks and Spencer voucher. The dates of the evaluation sessions are flexible but need to take place between 27th October and 14th November 2014.
